Quick Highlight: IT Projects to Help Clean Air?

October 11, 2011

For today’s post, I am going to try something new. This will be an abbreviated post with just a short reference to a short article / post. While the article is interesting, it doesn’t merit much discussion, so I will provide the link and reference, and a few observations.

I was drawn to today’s article because it describes how three IT projects are working to generate cleaner air in California. We don’t normally think of IT projects as directly affecting environmental factors, but these projects are designed to reduce automobile traffic, generally by reducing the need to physically visit certain government buildings, such as libraries. This is a pretty clever notion, particularly if you live in smog-ridden California.

The article in question is “IT Projects Improve Air Quality, Receive Grant Funding,” on Government Technology (govtech.com). The article was posted by Sarah Rich, who is listed as a Staff Writer, and the following twitter address is listed: @govtechnews. The article is well-written and informative. It is well worth it to read about this innovative initiative.
