Have an Ice Cream Sandwich

November 12, 2011

If you own an Android based mobile phone, then you may be affected by future upgrades of Android, the operating system that your phone runs on. I know that I am hoping my provider will upgrade my device to the new version, which is code-named “Ice Cream Sandwich.” TechRepublic has always been one of my favorite technical web sites, and it published a nice summary of the features associated with “Ice Cream Sandwich” in a recent article, “What to expect in Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.”

The article, by Jack Wallen, who tells us:

The next Android OS — 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich — is going to have the best of 2.0 and 3.0 on the world’s fastest growing smartphone. However, the tablet interface is quite a bit better than the smartphone iteration. That, of course, doesn’t mean 4.0 will have everything on the desktop the tablet has, but the smartphone version of the Android desktop will get a much-needed face lift. My personal favorite feature in the new version is facial recognition login capability. If you want to learn more about the new Android version, then check out the article.
